As a Sedona photographer, I totally recommend Sedona for your elopement, it is the cutest little town with stunning views. Sedona won me over when I moved to this state with those red rocks- stunning! It is known for those rocks and is visited for the hikes, vortexes, views, and off-roading. Weathering you’re drawn to those views, you have a connection to the area, or just want to make new memories, you cannot go wrong with Sedona. Now, you may be wondering how on earth to make this happen. Don’t worry, I’m here to help! Below are some tips but don’t forget, when we book, you’ll get so much more help and tips!!
You can elope anytime in Sedona but some times are better! Crowds are the biggest in March& April & October& November especially during breaks from school and holidays with Summer being the slowest due to desert heat. But in general, Sedona is a very High traffic area for such a small community with one main road so it can be a huge challenge getting around on weekends and peak season. I always recommend eloping on a midweek day for this & sunrise also gives you open roads too. If you aren’t set on a specific date, I can work with you to find the perfect date that will get us around those big crowds!
Spring: Spring in Sedona is a beautiful time to elope! The weather is mild, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to low 80s. The blooming wildflowers add a beautiful touch to your special day, and the days are usually sunny. Spring is also less crowded than other seasons, giving you more privacy for your amazing day.
Summer: Eloping in the summer means you’ll be experiencing Sedona at its warmest! Temperatures can reach into the 90s, but don’t let this deter you. Typically, I recommend avoiding June-September unless you do sunrise. The other nice part about summer is sunrise is rather manageable so if you want to avoid some crowds that’s a great way to go!
Fall: Fall is a beautiful time to elope in Sedona. The temperatures cool down to a comfortable range of the mid-60s to 80s, and the changing leaves create a stunning contrast against the red rocks! This season offers a wonderful moderate climate and breathtaking scenery for your elopement.
Sedona is conveniently located just 2 hours north of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport! But, If you prefer a smaller airport, Flagstaff is only 45 minutes north. However, the journey through Sedona is on a one-lane road, so be prepared for traffic and frequent stops. I always advise you to allow plenty of time and have a car at your disposal, as Uber and Lyft are virtually nonexistent! While there is a shuttle service running from Thursday to Sunday, it only operates during specific hours and goes to the most common hiking lots.
Cathedral Rock: Cathedral Rock is one of the most well-known locations in Sedona. Its amazing natural beauty makes it a very popular spot for wedding photography. However, because of its popularity, it can be quite busy. To secure a spot, you’ll need to get there around sunrise. It’s also worth noting that you can’t take the shuttle to this location! But despite these minor inconveniences, the views are absolutely worth it!
Merry Go Round Rock: If you’re up for a bit of an adventure, Merry Go Round Rock is an amazing choice! This location requires a 45-minute off-road drive, and you’ll definitely need a 4WD jeep. But don’t worry, if you don’t have one, you can always hire a company to take you there. The journey might be a bit rugged, but once you arrive, you’ll love the unique backdrop for your wedding photos!
Crescent Moon Ranch: If you are looking for convenience and easy access, Crescent Moon Ranch is the best option! This location offers reserved parking, which can be really beneficial. The ranch gives a relaxed and rustic charm, with stunning landscapes that will add an extra spark to your wedding pictures!!
If you’re into Airbnb like me, then I’ve got some golden recommendations for you. Let’s start off with some luxury, shall we? Enchantment Resort is the place for you if you’re looking for that high-end experience. Located in the heart of Sedona, it’s got everything from a world-class spa to golf courses. But if you’re more of the spa and relaxation type, Amara Resort and Spa is your go-to! It’s a tranquil retreat that offers the ultimate pampering experience. You’ll come out feeling rejuvenated and ready for your special day!
Now, if you’re the adventurous type who loves a unique stay, you can’t miss out on Tiny Camp Sedona! It’s a set of tiny houses located in the mountains. You’ve got all the comfort and luxury packed into a small, intimate space. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind experience! And if you’re planning a big family or friends gathering, Sedona Hilton is the place to be. They’ve got ample space and even provide the services of a private chef. And remember, try to pick a spot that’s close to your location. That way, you won’t have to worry about traffic and can spend more time enjoying your stay!
Good thing? Sedona offers a diverse range of dining options to suit every palate and occasion. I mention a few in this list but, once we book, I’ll provide an entire list once booked & don’t forget I also send a custom app with links to all of the best locations to hike, eat, things to do, etc.
It is hard to get reservations especially one for groups larger than 8 people. If you want an amazing
dinner with your people consider hiring a private chef. Once booked I’ll send you the list of my gotos!
